From the recording Awaken the Sleepers (Electric Works)
Have you ever known someone seemingly out of touch with reality, like they need a good "shaking" in order to wake up? I've experienced more than a few of those wake-up calls! We are to be alert and awake, after all, it's dangerous out there! Musically, this is what we call a "contra-fact", an interesting term that describes the use of another compositions' sequence of chords with a new melody. In this case, this happens every time the "horn section" enters.
Personnel: Tom (trumpet, digital wind controller with Akai sampler, keyboard sequencing); Buck Powell (tenor and baritone saxophone, keyboard); Dan Peterson (electric guitar); Joe Vick (double bass); Steve Chapman (drum set, drum programming); Rob Sveum (horn section arrangement). Recorded at Trimble Production Studios by Grady Trimble, Dave Rogers, and Keith Lynch, 1986-92. Edited and remastered at Family Life Studios by Keith Lynch, 2005.
