From the recording Gift of Wind

This was an interesting recording. Tom used to play flutes in rock bands, then in a Salsa and Brazilian band, and most recently in church worship bands. Tom and Keith Lynch (recording engineer) produced a full rhythm section recording medley of [popular spiritual songs featuring vocal, bass, alto and soprano flutes. But for this project they extrapolated the flute parts from the original arrangement, sent them to friend and Bluegrass musician Bill Nesbitt, who re-created the the arrangement with a tinge of Bluegrass influence. Bill played guitar, mandolin, and bass parts for this version. It's backwards from the way this sort of thing is usually done! Amazing Grace is one of the most ubiquitous spiritual songs/hymns in the worship music canon.
