The Gift of Wind Suite is organized around three sets of scripture: 1. Luke 24: 11-29 is a post-resurrection period when the disciples are not yet comprehending the events. A. He told us this would happen. B. It happened. C. What just happened? During this movement Tom solos on trumpet, Mark Boling plays fils on guitar, then Jay Gentry plays a solo on electric bass, all representing the disciples muses. 2. Acts 2:1-4 Gift of Wind. Gregory Tardy (tenor saxophone) plays the role of the Holy Spirit, the "violent rushing wind." This is in a 7/8 meter, and in 7 keys (7 sets of 7). 3. Acts 1:8 Witnesses to the Earth! Jesus tells the disciples to "wait" for the Gift of Wind (the Holy Spirit) before it comes. Guitarist Mark Boling is featured, playing electric guitar with a Moog synthesizer.
